Hi all
I'm not really sure in what section this belongs.
The backstory, around 5 years ago my grandparents moved in to a new development in Pretoria, this area had no Telkom lines so Telkom offered them a wireless phone, the phone had a SIM card if I remember correctly, but it had a normal 012 landline number, it also cost exactly the same as a normal Telkom monthly analog line, call costs etc also as if it is a normal analog line. I thought this phone was very area spesific, that there are towers or something at the spesific complex for these phones, but a few months ago I braught the phone to my house which is the other side of Pretoria and the phone worked just fine.
Now I'm wondering if Telkom still offer phones like that these days and whether they'll give it to anyone in any area, even though there are copper lines in the area. Reason for this is that our small business don't really have offices yet, so it would be nice if I can keep the phone at certain times at my house, but also give it to my colleague to keep at times. It can even be a actual cellphone, but the big thing is the number, we want a 012 landline number, (it just looks better if a business have a landline number as well, not just a cellphone number.)
I can't find anything on Telkoms website and trying to call them is a lost cause. Can anyone help with advice, do they still offer these wireless phones or can you maybe suggest a alternative solution?
