Telkom LTE Uncapped .. The road so far ..

I placed a bid for the deal @R599 a month.

After waiting the entire December assuming that since it was the holidays that is why I haven't been called back for the deal. (Or rather my father since it would be under his name. Not easy to be credible at my age.) I decided to go to the Telkom branch(Which happened to be the Sommerset West). At the Telkom branch in Sommerset West I asked if I could sign up for the promotion. After some discussion they said they couldn't do it and I had to go to the one in Stellenbosch. Arriving at the Stellenbosch Telkom branch I was able to convince the guy that they do give Uncapped LTE. Finally he gave in and after making some calls he fetched the device and antenna. I started to give the paperwork but we forgot to bring the 3 month bank statement for credibility. Knowing that this would happen I bought my mom along since she has signing rights on my dad's account. We went to the bank and after about 2 hours of struggling to get the 3 month statement we finally had it. Back to the branch. We waited in the que got to the front gave the guy the statement and waited the paperwork. As he started he realized that he couldn't give us the device since my dad had to be there to sign off on the document. This was ridiculous I was furious this guy sent us on a hunt without telling us it would amount to none. (And it is pretty ridiculous that we are able to get confidential bank statements but we can't sign the Telkom contract???). Luckly I knew some people within Telkom management and pulled some strings. The sales guy contacted my dad later that afternoon. All is well....

So all the sudden Telkom got a move on.. They were at my grandparents house the very next day(14 Jan) but they could not receive the device as it was suppose to be handed to only my dad who is the account holder. I contacted the contact I knew from Telkom and got them to allow me to sign off on the device. (I was still in the Cape then!)

On this day I was making my way back to Pretoria. I had a flight around 9am and I landed around 11am. I told the Telkom guys to deliver the device in the afternoon. Once I got to my grandparents house I found that they delivered the device today without any problems.. (Strange???) I set up the device in hopes to have internet but quickly found that the sim wasn't Ricaed. :cry: I read the documents that came along with the delivery and there was a little fine print. It read "Sim will be active in 24hrs" or along those lines. So I thought ok it should work by tommorow.(This was the Friday by the way.)

Still not working... I decided to install the antenna on my own since I am pretty sure that Telkom is going to be too slow..

Still not working... (48hrs passed.) I felt something was wrong so I called the support number(081 180) got through quite quickly and gave my sim card ICCID. It wasn't on their system so they forwarded me to Telkom sales. There I was declined to go further as I am not the account holder.

I got my dad to call them and after about a 40min call where most was holding, nothing was achieved. Low and behold around 5:30pm when I did the regular restart and check to see if it works, it did! Ahh! Finally! Now for some speed tests!
