This is a letter which I send to Telkom today. It explains all.
Good Day. For 3 weeks I have been phoning Telkom at least 3 times a week. Each time I explain my problem/explanation/request and I have been put through to so many departments and been given other numbers to phone that I am simply sick and tired of struggling so much.
Here is my request: We, Promar Trucking, are situated in Modimolle / Nylstroom in Limpopo. Our dailing code is 014. We are in the industrial area where Telkom does not install ADSL anymore due to repeated theft of the cables.
We are currently using VOIP on our office phone. Then we use about 10 x Vodacom contract cellphones of which the bills amount to about R40 000 to R60 000 per month. Then our 30 x cross-border drivers use pre-paid.
Our Internet connection is also bad and we have almost no after care service.
So for 3 weeks I have been trying to get Telkom to send us someone to look around here and do a presentation for us to go over to telkom.
The presentation must include:
1. a Switchboard with fixed incoming lines.
2. Extentions for the Switchboard.
3. Switch our cellphone service provider from Vodacom to Telkom Mobile on the contract phones.
4. Calling costs from the landlines and from Telkom Mobile including cross-border (Zimbabwe, Botswana, Namibia, Zambia, Mozambique). Also does Telkom Mobile work in those countries so that we can switch the 30 drivers to Telkom Mobile.
5. Telkom Internet
After 2 weeks of spending what feels like hours on the phone with various departments and people someone from Polokwane office phoned me on Monday or Tuesday. He said he can come see us on Friday or Monday. He also said that he will send me his contact details via sms after our call. I did not get his name, but thought it is fine because it will be on the sms.
I never got the sms. He also said he will phone me on Thursday to confirm if he will come on Friday or Monday. He never phoned. I have already set a meeting with our technicians and our truck's tracking company for Monday because they must also be in the presentation. Our 30 trucks also use SIM cards for their tracking.
Now I am trying to get hold of the guy from polokwane who said he will come see us so that I can set a definite date for our meeting for Monday morning. The other parties involved are coming from PTA on monday to attend the Telkom meeting.
But now I can't get hold of the Polokwane office. I Googled for Telkom Polokwane contact details and got the numbers 015 296 2305 and 015 297 4887, but not one of the two are working. On the Telkom website I got another number for the Polokwane branch, 015 265 1233, but nobody is answering that number.
Then I went on my cellphones call register and phoned the number from which the Telkom guy phoned me to make the tentative appointment. But the number, 015 287 0001, also seems not to be working.
So, I then phoned 10213 and got put through to various people of who nobody could help me or tell me what to do. I told the last lady I spoke to that maybe she can just give me a number that is working for the Polokwane branch. She then told me that Telkom does not send reps out at all. I told her I disagree because the guy from Polokwane said he is coming, and on the Telkom website it says you can request for a rep to come and see you.
I insisted that she get me a working number for Polokwane Branch. She put me on hold for 12 minutes and when she came back and heard I was still there she just put down the phone.
So, I now have this meeting set up for Monday morning but I don't know what to do any more to get a Telkom rep to attend. THE WHOLE MEETING IS ABOUT TELKOM!
I am now sick and tired. If I do not have a satisfactory response on this mail by 12h00 then I am going to start to post this whole mail on as many sites as I can, of which the first one will be HeloPeter and MyBroadband.
