E3267 Port Forwarding... ?

Hi all - I wasn't too sure WHICH section of the MyBB forum to post this in, so it wound up here, since it's a Telkom Mobile branded Modem with a Telkom Mobile branded SIM card :p

Unlike most USB modems which simply plug in, and require you to use the associated launcher to connect / disconnect, the E3267 decides to double as a router, and automatically connects.

Which - For the most part - Is Great!

The problem is that, for a router, it has absolutely NO router-based settings...

Sure, it lets you connect to http://192.168.1.1/html/home.html to see signal strength, and carrier, and such, but it has absolutely no settings found in a normal router (Firewalls, Port Forwarding, Etc) with http://192.168.1.1/ redirecting you to the above URL.

As I generally mess around quite a bit and host a few things on my PC for fun, I was messing around with IIS today, and noticed that I couldn't connect to myself externally, and entering my own IP in the address bar simply 404'd. Then I realised - That's because it was going to my router (AKA: Modem), and not me, requiring port forwarding!

The problem is that since the "router" part of the modem has no visible settings (And Google searches don't really help), and a port scan (It stuck me on 192.168.1.100 so It's easy to differentiate whose who) only shows Port 80 being open, I am stuck.

Any ideas?

Quote:

Some Huawei USB modems have a mode called "HiLink" which provides for "driverless" installation on Windows, Macintosh and Linux computers. These modems usually have the HiLink logo marked on the outside, or have optional HiLink firmware that can be installed on the device.

The current Huawei HiLink modem firmware operates as a NAT router rather than as a traditional modem. HiLink provides no mechanism for the IP address assigned by the cellular operator to be "passed through" to the attached device, nor does HiLink provide any sort of port-forwarding capability.

For these reasons, HiLink mode cannot be used for remote access applications (e.g. Remote Desktop, VNC, web servers, etc.) where "inbound" connections are initiated by computers on the Internet. To use HiLink mode, your application must require only "outbound" initiated connections (e.g. web browsing, email, etc.), or you must implement a VPN connection to another device which is initiated by the router which has the HiLink mode modem installed.
.... I have a funny feeling that some flashing is in order :/
