I'm using a Samsung Galaxy S3 i9305. I was running CellC on Cyanogenmod 10.1 stable.
Then I switched to Telkom Mobile and mobile data would not work, but USSD codes and calls worked fine.
Now I've upgraded to Cyanogenmod 11 (Nightly latest) Android 4.4.4 and mobile data is working.
However USSD responses to queries like *101# and *147# etc come in chinese/japanese.
It really is a USSD response and not an error message. Because the *101# (check balance) only shows me a msg with an OK box.
But *147# which is interactive, gives me a box to type in numbers etc.
If I try use internet banking that also has USSD prompts it's also in Chinese/Japanese.
I called Telkom's call center and asked if there is some USSD code to set my language. But they didn't have a clue about it.
My best guess is Telkom detects the phone's language, and somehow my phone is saying it's chinese or whatever. I've tried setting the phone language to English UK, US, NZ.
Any ideas?
