Telkom Mobile hurdles to sign up

…So I want to upgrade my cell contract, the best iPhone 6 deal at the moment is Telkom so naturally I high tail it to my nearest store to be greeted by a lounging sales person that can only utter "we don’t have stock". I don’t stress but the next day I look on Telkom mobile’s web site and get the next store number, I call, and call, and call, and call, and call (you get the idea). Eventually I Google for other numbers and find a post on mybroadband dating back to 2005 where the poster is saying that the Telkom shops in Tygervalley don’t answer their phones. Well, by George….its 10 years later and guess what, they still don’t answer them..

So the new Telkom mobile motto “ If we ignore the customer long enough, maybe they will go away”

Not wanting to leave it there, I Google around and find a customer care number (not that they care) and after ranting from one person to the next I get to a manager who says wait, let me put you to the online telesales, you can do the whole thing online.. fantastic…

So I get the call connected and we go through the whole application, the system tells us we are good to go and the agent eventually says she will call me when they are ready to courier my shiny new phone..

So I get a txt message today, “your application has been declined” ???

I call….no there is a mismatch between personal information given and the ITC system. What? How? Impossible?

Sorry but you will have to go and re-do the application in store, it can’t be done online and we can’t tell you what was wrong..

So some agent can’t spell and for that they decline my application, nee man!!

I give up..

The only reason I want to call the stores is to determine if they have stock, no point driving there if they don’t have..so I send this to their support.. check the reply… (read top down) Also notice I sent my email on the 22nd at 9h53, they replied a day later at 11h22

Hi there

I have waited patiently for my existing cellular contract to run out, finally it did and since yesterday I have tried in vain to get hold of anyone at the Tygervalley shop.

Are Telkom seriously not interested in new business?

See these posts..albeit dating back a few years but the thing is its still an issue

its just pathetic..

So much for porting to Telkom, if it starts like this then I have no hope for a two year contract.

You seriously know how to annoy your customers and apparently don’t seem to give a damn..

Regards

Good day Thank you for the email. If you would like to get assisted by the store please go into store because the store is a walk in option and they are dealing with walk in customers and that is why your call may be not be attended to.

The store only opens at 9 and I called at 8h58, 8h59, 9h00, 9h01…..all the way to 9h44

I seriously want Telkom mobile management to take up the challenge…Go and apply for a mobile contract somewhere, do an iPhone one, I want them to see the pain the customer must go through..

BUT I do believe that Telkom Mobile which is actually Telkom Retail is being merged into BCX (Business Connexion), now there is a ripe recipe for disaster, one useless entity and combine it with another useless-er entity, we may as well expect data-shedding soon because we have another Eksdom in the making.
Maybe they should merge Telkom and Eksdom, Teldom. (100% my opinion ofcourse)

Needless to say, I am phone-less and in a spiralling conundrum…. After 6 years of Hell-C I refuse to get ripped off by Vodacon and would rather eat my hat than entertain the thought of empty-n.

Welcome to the world of borderless communication, there just is none….beeeeeeeeeeeep beeeeeeeeeep…….
