So I moved from a Cell C contract to Telkom mobile prepaid yesterday. Telkom offers two options for prepaid - Sim Sonke and Telkom More. Looking at the tariffs, it seems that Telkom more is always more expensive on voice and data. In fact Telkom more has the onerous requirement of having to use your "bonus" airtime in 5 days before it expires. If you don't use the "bonus" airtime, call rates are actually R1.90 per minute compared to Sim Sonke's R0.75/minute.
In light of the above, I obviously wanted to get the Sim Sonke deal, only to be told that you can't get nano sim cards with Sim Sonke, only micro sim. This seems to me like Telkom is saying "if you can afford a nice phone, then you have to pay more on calls."
Am I missing something here?
