Unable to top Top Up Wallet

Hi

Can anyone confirm this?

I have an 8ta "stick" that I use with my laptop.

I've set 8ta up as a beneficiary on a Nedbank account.
I normally pay money into my Top Up Wallet and it reflects within minutes (worked well for the last year or so)
Then I purchase data. All done from within https://kya.8ta.com/

Last night I did the usual beneficiary payment, when my 99MB warning came through.
Still not showing tonight.

1st call to 081 180 - the agent told me to e-mail her proof of the transfer. We got cut off before I could gen an address.

2nd call to 081 180 - different agent asked if I bank with FNB. I said no, with Nedbank. She replied that they have been having issues with bank payments for the last 4 days! :eek:

Can anyone confirm this?

Is this speed normal, or even possible via HSDPA or is there something wrong with my Notebook?

I had better speeds back in the day with my 28.8k analogue modem.

I am using my Galaxy Tab in USB tether configuration which was fine before, but now speeds are pathetic, this is in Goodwood, Cape Town btw.

Any ideas?

LTE Coverage

Hi

Is anybody using Telkom Mobile LTE in Midrand. I currently have Telkom Mobile on 3G and coverage is very poor in the Carlswald area. Not all the time but more often than not. I also use Vodacom LTE but Vodacom data is a bit expensive. CellC, well I threw the sim card out the window before the contact ended. Telkom shows excellent coverage for LTE where I am, but they also showed excellent coverage for 3G, but its not the case with 3G.

How reliable is LTE as a home office solution?

I had a Telkom rep at my house just now showing me the speed I can get with LTE.

They brought a router and just plugged it in, and without any adjustment, I got +- 45mbps down and 7mbps up to a local speedtest server.

I am very tempted to move over to them, but obviously for a competitive price I will have to sign myself into a 2 year contract.

I work from home and need a reliable internet experience. Does the LTE service provide this, or is it finicky?

Telkom Night Surfer - Is it uncapped or unlimited or not

Please give an understanding of how Telkom Nightsurfer works. I have a 10gigs + 10 gigs capped package with telkom. I read an article on mybroadband stating that telkom was offering free dtat between 12am & 7am.
In august I downloaded 50 Gigs for the month and when i check my usuage on telkom website it was still under 100%. Yet in September I am already 100% over and i only downloaded 23 gigs.
I schedule my downloads to happen between night surfer so as to not affect my package. I contacted Telkom and they said that although Nightsurfer is free it does not mean it is uncapped or unlimited. Telkom can decide how much to allocate to you.

My problem is that this is not fair to customer cause i check my utilization constantly and the previous night i was 58 % used. I downloaded 1 gig and to my surprise the next day i was over 100%.

Let me know if you have an explanation or similar issues.

When I logged into the 8ta/Telkom Mobile portal, I saw that the 8ta/Telkom Mobile name has now been removed and it's just Telkom.

Can't help but wonder how much money has been wasted from 8ta > Telkom Mobile > back to the original name.

I loved the 8ta name, cos that it where it all started, then a bit miffed when it changed to Telkom Mobile and now unspecial when it changed back to the original name.

Oh well, just wanted to get it off my chest. :(

So got home today and found that I'm out of bundle. Usually if this is the case I simply head over to the web portal to topup on the R145 package.

Now I can't, because the page won't load unless all assets are loaded, plenty of which are located off-net. Which wouldn't be a problem save for the fact that I'm out of bundle.*slow clap*

Yes, for some reason Telkom deems it necessary to load google friggin' maps api for you to load bundles. Fix please.

Ps I know about the helpdesk.

Just a heads up for people that also use Telkom Mobile, I see from Sunday 21 September they changed their Night Owl hours to 12am to 7am from 11pm to 5am.

Don't get caught out.

8TA Collapsed in Krugersdorp

Okay, seems as if 8TA totally collapsed in Krugersdorp / Rant en Dal area.

We are using 8TA 3G and their mobile services for landlines. However, the past 2 weeks we experienced problems with Internet access, some days up to 6 hours no reception, phone calls dropping after 3 seconds... and today it is worse. Takes about 3 minutes to open google.co.za and 12 minutes to open MyBB.

Problem is that Telkom no longer provide ADSL to the neighbourhood due to cable theft.

Just a quick question, do you guys think the old 56k dialup will still work on landlines? We have one last line, and thinking about buying an old modem from someone (if this connection will still work) and move all business onto this Internet connection.

We do not have any VC or CellC or other services reception in this area.

Telkom Mobile App Balance Issue?

Can anyone explain this? Maybe a Telkom error?

I recently got a Telkom SmartPlan 100 contract. It includes 1GB all network data and also 150MB all network data. I use the Telkom Mobile App to check my balances.

A few days ago when I checked my balances I saw the items in the following order: 1) Recurring All Networks Data, 2) Included All Networks Data, 3) Per Minute All-net Voice, 5) Welcome Bonus Messaging, 6) Wi-Fi Data Unlimited Speed. This is fine and how it should be?

But now when I view my balances I get a few more options on top of the items that I've shown above. They are: 1) Recurring Telkom Mobile data (10240 MB), 2) Recurring Telkom Mobile Data 128 kbps (9536743 MB), 3) Recurring Telkom Mobile Data (9988 MB), 4) Recurring Telkom Mobile Data 128 kbps (9536743 MB) and then the it continues like the first list.

This looks like some sort of error? But I had a look and downloaded something over Telkom 3G, it didn't use my 1GB All network data as shown in the first 1), but it used data from the second 3) "Recurring Telkom Mobile Data (9988MB). This 9988MB was on 10012MB before I downloaded something.

It looks like I have 10GB mobile data? I'm not complaining but I don't want to get a shock at the end of the month showing I'm purchasing a 10GB add on or something?

Hi,

I don't know if this is the wrong forum I'm posting in - apologies if it is - but I hope someone can answer my question. When buying a new cellphone, is it protocol to open the box in store or am I allowed to do it at home? The only SP that has ever allowed me to open a new phone at home was Vodacom and I wish to open a contract with Telkom Mobile next, but want to know if they'll allow me to unbox it at home. This is just a personal preference, I really enjoy opening my gadgets myself in the privacy of my own home.

I have not received my Free monthly internet bundles ( 200mb TM ONLY ) on all 3 my prepaid numbers.

There is uncertainty if the unlimited data until end March applies to all SmartPlan 100 contracts or only some.Asked the staff at 2 telkom stores and got 2 different answers.Does anybody know?:confused:

Port, NanoSim, Internet Starter Pack & Sim Sonke

Hi All:)

I'm currently on Cell C and I want to port to Telkom Mobile. I need a nano-sim (although I am willing to cut a normal one) and I also want to have the 512MB p/m Internet Starter Pack deal. Ideally, I would like my tariff to be Sim Sonke but Telkom More would do. In term of priorities: 1. Port 2. Internet Startpack 3. Nano-sim 4. Sim Sonke.

Has anyone tried this or something similar? Does any have any steps that I should follow to get this to happen?
