I have recently cut the cord completely with DSTV, which means our household is now relying solely on the internet for all entertainment purposes. I've found that when someone in the family is busy streaming Netflix / Amazon Primevideo that my gaming performance suffers somewhat.
I'm thinking of trying to setup Qos on the network to prioritise all gaming related traffic over streaming of any kind. Can some of the experts here provide some insights:
1. Will this solution improve gaming performance in general? Latency dependent games like FPS seems to suffer the most (lag spikes, slight rubberbanding), all other gaming works fine (RTS, MMORPGS, etc)
2. Will this solution greatly impact the streaming quality? (I don't think so, the buffering should take care of the lower priority of the data on the network?)
3. The current Huawei B315s router does not have a Qos function. Is this a suitable replacement? http://www.tp-link.co.za/products/de...her-MR200.html Are there any better alternatives that I can look at capable of utilising the current Telkom LTE spectrum and have connections for external antenna's?
