Telkom LIT Spotify?

I'm on Telkom Mobile, which makes streaming music much more practical affordable thanks to its "LIT music" service, which zero-rates music streaming. The problem is that currently only Google Play Music, Apple Music, and Simfy Africa are supported, with no mention of Spotify.

Is there any indication from Telkom that it intends to add Spotify on LIT music?

Telkom LIT video - Netflix?

Hi All

With the World cup having started yesterday, I streamed a bit of the game and opening ceremony yesterday using DSTV Now on LiT.

I've now checked the usage, and it seems that it used up the bandwidth from Music LiT, instead of Video LiT.
If this continues, I'm pretty sure I'll soon run out of the Music Cap. Anyone else having this issue?

I have read another thread where this was happening with Youtube. This I can understand though, as both Google Play and Youtube are streaming from the "same" google servers, but dont see why there should be this issue with DSTV now.

Anyone with any advice Please?

How do I check my contract end date

So I have a contract with Telkom (24 months). I went to the self service portal and on the mobile app but I cant seem to find information about my contract. Anyone know if its possible to check this info without calling customer care?

Can you use IDS If you just buy the IDS and softcap data

So here is my question.

Telkom 20GB softcap costs 99 Bucks a month and their 20 GB IDS costs another 99 Bucks per month
SO my question is can i pay for just both of these and use the IDS or do i have to link the softcap to a DSL line which would then set me back another 169 Bucks /m
Because this would be a cheap alternative to mobile data if you dont need to pay the ADSL line rental


Also is it possible to port a number to an IDS simcard?

Hello Everyone

i have got a Huawei B315 router and i am Getting Super Awesome Download speeds but the uplink is meh, Crap really crap, i want to know i am paying for Data for my Telkom SIM Card (Smart Broadband Prepaid Wireless) i buy 60 GB 40 GB and Sometimes 10 GB depends how much i want to use the internet at home. i want to ask if i phone Telkom Support and Tell Them i have got bad Signal Strength and i need Antenna's do i have to buy my own Poynting antenna's or will the Telkom Technicians have their own to put up on my Roof for my Huawei B315??

NOTE: in my other post i am getting Very Bad Network Routes to Cape town Data Centers and Joburg Data Centers so i would need Poytnting Antenna's ;)

Battery Life + Telkom LTE

About 2/3 weeks ago my iPhones battery life just suddenly became terrible, would go from full to empty after a few hours..

App power usage was normal, turning off background processes, low power mode.. no luck.

On a whim I turned off LTE and it's been perfect on 3G ever since - if I turn LTE back on then battery starts draining immediately again.

Has anyone else come across this?

Huawei B315s - 936 Router Settings

Hi Guys

When I log into my router (where you enter the default username and default password) to amend the settings, I get the following screen with very basic settings instead of the usual screen where you can change all of the settings.

Provisioning SIM for voice impossible on some contracts?

Ok, so it's Telkom's atrocious service, again.

I have 2 data contracts with Telkom, the first has an additional 3 multisims connected to it, and the second has 1 multisim connected to it. Just over a month ago, I called Telkom to provision all the SIMS for voice. Five minutes later, the main SIM of the first contract was provisioned for voice, and both sims of the second contract was provisioned for voice.

However, 8 calls later, and several weeks later, the 3 multisims connected to the first contract still cannot make or receive voice calls.

Techie 2 said wait 72 hours.

The third techie said to wait another 72 hours, but 6 days thereafter, the fourth techie said the 72 hours must be divided by 8 working hours per day, which means 9 days, and she adamantly stuck to this stupendous explanation. But 2 weeks later it was still not working.

Techie five said it is impossible to provision data sims for voice, and the fact that I succeeded with one of my contracts was a miracle.

Techie six said that certain new SIMs were manufactured only for data, and could never be provisioned for voice.

Techie seven said the matter is being handled by the wrong department, and that they will restart the processes.

The final "solution" from the last techie was "pay up the 24 month contract in advance, convert all SIMs to prepaid, then try again."

Surely this is unacceptable...

Telkom mo' Nice Deals No Price

Good morning

I'm the only one who is experiencing this my Telkom mo' nice deals don't show the price example it give me few options. Maybe 2.5 gig but no amount/price I was lucky enough to get the 450 gig on my router sim card, now it's no longer available.

Can’t buy Night Surfer Data

So after the Night Surfer ended I couldn’t buy the 450GB option because it wasn’t there on the Mo’Nice menu. Instead there was a 5G option for R5 which is valid for 24hrs. For a couple of weeks it worked then of late I have been getting this message when trying to purchase the daily might Surfer data:

“Unable to provision, maximum Opt-Ins have been reached for the Opt-In period. (2 per CAMPAIGN)”

What does this mean? Does it mean I am somehow throttled? How long is the Campaign?

Nightsurfer torrents blocked

So for a while now I've been unable to download any torrents after midnight. Obviously this is annoying when I have nightsurfer data. If I open a p2p client my internet completely stalls after a few minutes, then when I close it my connection magically speeds up again.

I've checked netlimiter, tried opening web pages, tried traceroutes, literally everything times out until I stop p2p connections. HTTP and Steam downloads run fine. Anyone know what I can do to sort this out? I've tried "unrestricted" APN.

Also if anyone can give some advice on improving network speed that would be appreciated, as most days I'm maxed out at 1mb/s on speed tests. I'm connecting by USB tethering my phone (Galaxy S6)

cancellation penalty

I had a smart broadband 20 GB wireless contract with Telkom, I was under the impression the the 500Gb for R50 deal would be valid for the period of my contract but I now hear that the deal ended in May. Does anyone know what penalties telkom will impose if you cancel a contract ? 20 GB is just not enough for me.

A colleague tried to buy a Telkom sim at JNB in the past week, could not find it any store.
Airtime you can buy. Not needed anyhow as you buy this online.

Any idea if one can buy a sim at any airports? If so where?

Telkom store locator did not help.

Before I call Telkom, do anyone else have this issue?

Every time I depleted my inclusive data and start using my recurring data I keep getting this sms about 70 times in 12 hours time span on my router.
I do confirm that my data is not paused.

I've got a dual sim phone with vodacom taking sim 1. I am considering telkom mobile as my sim 2 due to the following:

  • 1GB data
    Free SMSs; WhatsApps and Instant Messaging
    Free calls to Telkom mobile and Telkom landline numbers*
    R0.70c per minute on calls to other SA mobile and landline networks
    Free WiFi at Telkom Hotspots


Can anyone provide some input on this? Are the teklom mobile to telkom mobile and telkom fixed line calls 100% free and are there any issues to be concerned about?

Any idea what this means

I signed up from a 4MB uncapped ADSL service to a capped 100GB anytime and 100GB Night surfer LTE-A Promo in April 2018. My son plays Xbox online occasionally and I do not video stream any movies like Showmax or DSTV Catch Up plus.

I am astonished that the 100 GB Data cap was reached by the 16th of the month which I found highly suspicious. Despite this and severe pressure from my family, I topped up 20 GB on 18th June 2018. To my amazement it was already depleted by the 21st!! I then topped up 10 GB on 25th and it was out of data by the 27th. This has cost an additional R604 and I find this incredibly hard to comprehend that Data can be consumed so rapidly? This feels like is a complete rip-off!!

I have tried unsuccessfully to call Telkom Help 081180 3 times and the online chat 4 times . Either they cut you off when you mention LTE Data is disappearing or they cannot assist as the system is offline and call back in an hour. Telkom will not revert back to the original ADSL contract as is evidenced in the Telkom community forum by other members. I am now stuck with this LTE-A contract for 24 months and it feel as if am been fleeced by Telkom. Why is the support so pathetic? Does anyone really give a damn at Telkom? Can anything be done or experienced similar?

Has anybody taken them up on this offer?
R599 for Uncapped LTE (Business Hours)
R899 for Uncapped LTE (All Hours)

I've been thinking of going with this for gaming as Fibre is taking forever to come to my area, and ADSL is capped at 4Mbps speeds which is just not on.

I currently have SmartBroadband Unlimited LTE and I get speeds of around 40Mbps, but when so any users connect to it at home, it renders the latency for gaming pretty poor hence I want to get this one just for gaming.

What I want to find out is, are the speeds of this promotion the same as the SmartBroadband Unlimited LTE?
Because in the T&Cs it says that the speeds are up to 10Mbps for the first 150GB :wtf:
This is not LTE in my books, and I cant seem to get a hold of anybody at Telkom to clarify before I sign up.

I don't want to be tied down to a 24 months contract for 10Mbps speeds on LTE that makes no sense. So if anybody else has signed up for this deal, please can you share your experiences.
