Telkom mobile LTE Carrier agrigation?

I’m curious to know if Telkom mobile LTE sims can achieve carrier agrigation between their 1800Mhz FDD and 2300Mhz TDD LTE, and if this is the case is it possibly why Telkom LTE is so Battery heavy.

Anyone else have this issue? I see full signal on 4G (I am very close to the nearest tower when at home) but as soon as I place a call, it immediately drops to 3G and then sometimes (even often) the signal is so bad the other side can hardly hear me; when I look at my status bar i have NO signal.

Very annoying!!!

I am on Telkom and am trying to convert airtime into a data bundle.

However, when I use the *180# USSD code, I get the error “Connection problem or invalid MMI code”.

I am out of data – can that be the problem?

So, I want to get LTE internet via Telkom. Purchased the router and the sim. Did the whole rica process on Monday already. Now on Wednesday it is still not registered? No answer at customer care. Any suggestions or help please?

In August I will be traveling to the US for two years coming back in November 2020 and I would like to know if there is a sure, network guaranteed way to keep my mobile number until then without having to leave it with some to recharge from time to time or taking it with me and letting it roam so that that the number keeps active and doesn't get recycled. BTW how long does Telkom keep allow you to keep an inactive number before they recycle it?

In May 2014 I tried to cancel my mobile contract through the call centre and was informed that I need to complete the cancellation form and send it to retainme@8ta.co.za which I then did and got a response stating "I have forwarded the form to the relevant department.".

Telkom Mobile then continued debiting my account for over a year amounting to roughly R3900 until I had actually closed the bank account being debited. Some time later out of the blue I get a legal notice stating I owe Telkom just over R1500 for non-payment bearing in mind that the sim card was thrown away the day I sent the cancellation notice through.

At that stage I logged a support case with Telkom to investigate, case number 17847297, only for me to follow up with them again 18 months later as the attorneys were sending threats fast and furious... still no response from Telkom.

During the week I pulled an ITC report and noticed a default against my name to the amount of R1580 from Telkom on 31 August 2017 for "Bad Debt Written Off". Yesterday, 5 June 2018, I called YET AGAIN and spoke with a gentleman by the name of Cannan only to be told that it was Cynthia Mazibuko that originally attempted to contact me and allegedly after 3 failed attempts they just closed the support case and continued with the threats. Now my preferred method of contact is via email as its often very difficult to reach me during the day on my mobile. The call centre agent, Cannan, advised that he had sent an email to Cynthia to give me a call and have been waiting in anticipation for this call to resolve the issue... 24 hours later still nothing so called the call centre yet again. At this stage Im obviously fuming and told the agent, Kabelo, that it seems my only recourse here would be to go to small claims court to which his response was, "That would probably be the best idea"

Telkom Freeme Contracts A Sham

Telkom started introducing these FreeMe contracts a while ago which promised:
- an allocation of data for normal internet use
- an allocation of data for Whatsapp calls and media
- free Whatsapp messages.

I have one of these contracts and it all worked perfectly until a few weeks ago. All of a sudden I couldn’t connect to the Whatsapp anymore if my normal data was depleted. The call centre assistant said they have a issue with FreeMe data on iPhones that should be sorted out soon. However, today the same thing happened and I phoned the call centre again. This time things were a bit different:

The call centre assistant informed me that the Whatsapp data is NOT FREE ANYMORE, and that you need to have normal data or airtime left to use Whatsapp. They changed their policy and benefits she said. I explained to her that Telkom cannot just merely change contractually agreed upon terms as they wish without consent from the other party. She reckons they didn’t change my contract, just my benefits.

In the end, Telkom lured us to these contracts just to throw us under the bus again.

TELKOM WHATSAPP PROMOTION PROBLEM

I purchased the Telkom 1gb for 30 days Whatsapp Promo on Mo' Nice on Sunday 08/07/18. As soon as I switched on my mobile hotspot at 12 midnight to use night surfer bundle, the Whatsapp data was used up within 20 minutes. It seem as if this data is used first before the night surfer data. I had not used the Whatsapp bundle since I purchased it. Anyone else experience this ?

how you set the phone to use TM only and not roam

my phone doesnt show if its on MTN or TM but im in claremont CPT and im sure it doesnt need to roam on MTN

As the title states, has anyone else noticed this? Netflix cannot get more than 2mbps. I'm nowhere near the fup, speed tests still getting around 40mbps, can barely get 720 netflix. So annoying.

Dec'17 I took out the 20gb contract, with fair usage policy of 1500 minutes ANY network an d FUP of 3000 telkom to telkom. Up to late May all was fine, no problem and all of a sudden 90% business landline numbers gave me the message that my funds are insufficient. My wife, with only the 2gb and only 100 all network minutes package, can still phone any number. I reported jt, but there helpdesk, like all helpdesks in this ****ry, is helpless useless. They try to tell me that I phone numbers that is not supported by Telkom. Bull..! It worked untill May and is normall 011 or 012 or whatever number. One out of 10 is working. They are useless helpless. Their technical department send a sms, that you can't contact back, saying the problem is resolved, but they don't phone or contact other than the sms and itbis still the same. Reported again and they say they reopened the old call. Nothing happened. I feel the must totally delete my profile and recreate it correctly, but they are just useless. Now I feel they must stop the contract deadstill, refund me, take back the instrument and I will get something else at another supplier. While it worked it was fabulous, but now it hamper me totally and I took out a pay as you go from cellc just to be able to phone....

Online-only Campain 100GB all networks data and other woes

During December and January was a nice deal:

Smart Internet 500MB contract R99p/m with extras:
- Huawei E5573 MiFi router
- 5GB Telkom data p/m
- 10GB Telkom night data
- 100GB All network data once-off valid for 365 days (only when ordered online)

I ordered this on the beginning of January, but the package was sent to the wrong address and subsequently returned to Telkom. I can't blame anybody in person for this, but the fault was on their system. They took our proper delivery address from the Website, but found a matching customer on the landline subscription and assigned this address for delivery. It was wrong, as Telkom landline hasn't been transfered to the new address at the moment.

Telkom eventually corrected mistake and I received a package in February. Unfortunately 100GB was missing. I lodged complain and enquired many times, never received any feedback. Finally in May I got to the attendant who pushed the matter forward and on the beginning of this month I received 100GB.

Winning? Not with Telkom! Now this 100GB all networks data valid for 365 days is being depleted on the Telkom connection, and all other bundles are untouched!

In this situation I can't afford waiting another 6 months to rectify a problem, while all networks bundle is wasted. Any suggestions?

So some landline numbers work without having airtime and others dont (You have insufficient airtime...). Can someone explain this to me?

Goodday all.

Both my wife and I are on a Free me 2 gig packages. Both upgraded in November 2016, two days apart.

She is due for an upgrade now in August 2018 but I have to wait till November 2018. This will be a full 24 months after the last upgrade and then they say I can only cancel one month before February 2019. This will be a total 26 month contract.

Am I right in saying its breach of contract? Ive tied to get proper answers from Telkom but i can only reach the call center and then the escalations are just canceled without being notified. Then I have to start all over again.

I tried going the ICASA way, its been 4 weeks and no response. Ive contacted the Consumer affairs in JHB but they said it could take up to 60 days to get an answer.

Anybody here that might know a better route to get this problem resolved?

So I received a phone call from, Mr. Agent. My smart broadband (R799)package is due for an upgrade. We went through all the bells and whistles He then explained to me that with the new B525 router i will get faster speeds as i will connect to the LTE-A network. He also said that the 150 GB will only count to downloads and browzing ect but not streaming. Then I explained to him that i get currently 300GB on my package before they throttle it to 4 Mbps. Sounds good right so stupid me I opt for the new deal with LTE-A connection.

Today got the new router plugged it in and waited for the new sim to activate. Sim activated 20 min later. Me sitting in an LTE-A area with max speeds of 10Mbps.......So i started to check this out. All new uncapped packages are max 10Mbps!!!! with 150GB cap then 4Mbps for 50 GB en uncapped at 2 Mbps.

So the agent lied to me completely. I pay more for less per month. Slower speeds and less cap!!!!

I am still in my 7-day window to cancel this contract...So wish me luck but I'm not going to leave this here.

The modem connects. You can ping sites but it seems there is virtually no downstream speed. So all connects simply time out or hang. Where do I report this issue?
I tried a Vodacom SIM and it works.

Hey i hope this message reach the necessary departments that can deal with such unprofessional services from telkom.

Round about 22nd of June we logged a case cause we get slow speeds; RSRP of - 90dbm or - 84dbm and SINR of 7db or 12db

We complained and requested a scan to see if an external antenna would solve the problem. Was told to set connection mode to 4G only and monitor over the specific weekend.

I did that and contact them the Tuesday 26th of June. I was told to wait 3 working days from the the technicians to get the papers than about 9 days for them to come out.

Begining of this month I receive a message that the query was resolved and I should phone back if it had any issues.

I phone full of frustration and basically went down the guys throat becauss he told me that the previous person wrote that we had no connect at all and the message was basically send because they could see that we have connection.

They logged a new case. Said that he would state what happened previously and the new case can take up to 2 weeks for technician to reach our house and do a scan but they would bring outdoor antenna with.
Another month and R900 down the drain and not one telkom call or technician...

Worst part is they take there money even if we get 2mb/s sometimes worst.

Hope to hear from telkom. Sick of calling useless customer support
