Anyone gaming on Telkom Mobile LTE?

Hi guys,

I'd like to know if anyone is gaming on a PS4 or the like with Telkom Mobile LTE.
How's your ping?Download?Upload?

I'm getting really bad ping in BF4/BF1.
Mostly 1 bar. Very rarely 2 bars.

I've been getting download speeds around 35-38Mbps and upload speeds around 5-7Mbps.
Ping around 19-40ms to Johannesburg servers.
190-300ms ping to London.
Speed tests are the same with the bunny antennas and internal. 300m-400m from LTE Telkom tower on the map.
Using a Huawei B315 router. 3-4 bars out of 5 constant connection signal.
I'm based in Polokwane.

Would a poynting antenna make a difference with latency on LTE?

Telkom mobile NAT SABnzbd and Sonar

I have Telkom mobile 100gb day / 100gb night and have been using SABnzbd and Sonar on my DSL network for some time with No-Ip dns to IP.
I have tried to setup the E5186 with NAT (virtual server and special applications) to port forward requests to SABnzbd.
But the dns does not work to the local ip of SABnzbd. When I load something from Sonar it puts it in SABnzbd but it does not download the file. When you look at the Status in SABnzbd it shows Servers - Connections: Resolving address. When I test the connection to the Astraweb ssl server it fails....weird as this worked on DSL.

Firstly: Is it possible to NAT through Telkom Mobile?
Then why would my downloads not start (ie the astraweb servers not connecting and pulling the file)

So, I've been with Telkom for a total of 1 month now and so far, I have buyers remorse.

First they sent me around because they wouldn't accept my 3 month bank statements, then they took their time approving my contract and then they signed me up for a FreeMe2GB (which I requested) but activated me on a FreeMe1GB.

Finally Telkom phones me to tell me the contract issue has been resolved, but in resolving the issue, they found another issue where I was penalized R3700.00. They cant explain what for, their billing teams says they dont pick up anything but the walk in-store picks up a penalty of R3700.00.

Telkom.......... Really now.......... What the f**k, seriously. My first debit order just went off and you've managed to screw my contract up twice in the first month of being with you.

Hi Guys,


I have two newly obtained SIM's on my Softcap 40GB product.

The lady at the Telkom store confirms that they are working.. but with either SIM, when I connect to the web (via windows 10 and HSDPA dongle) - it's says connected, no internet.


I can confirm it's getting an IP, when I try to ping anything, it comes with with the Tower/Router's IP, saying it's unreachable... Almost like it's not active... I've tried APN's internet and TelkomInternet, als tried entering my DSL username and password - with any of the aforementioned, it connects, but no traffic.

PLEASE HELP... I'm about to go burn Telkom to the ground... 10 calls to 10210 and 10213 - every time a different excuse as to why it's not working.

How to Enable "new" Integrated Sim Service?

if anyone knows please assist..

Now that we have to pay to get full use of softcap data on Integrated Sim, how does one go about getting this service enabled?, Telkom Helpdesk/Customer service has no idea, when i asked them to enable it, they loaded top up data for me, now that i have hit my "free" 2gb, the service is capped/limited.

Hi All.

I want find what is the best deal Telkom have, for pre-paid customers than is not on *180# or *147#.

Im currently on Mtn and 8ta only roams , at my location , im not sure if i switch to 8ta if my performance wil decrease, if im able to roam thru them.

R50 rand an Gig can get really expensive Fast, it is like Christmas. :)

Any help would Appreciated.

Have any of you (especially iPhone users) noticed how messed up Telkom is pricing their Mobile contracts?

I took out an contract for my daughter in December (Hauwei P9 Lite on Freem 1GB) for R199, in January it costs R249!

My Iphone 6 64GB contract has now expired, but I was on the lookout from February to upgrade. The same contract/phone I took out 2 years ago (2+ years old model phone) is now only R50pm cheaper. I can go for a 6s 32GB, but it is still an almost 2 year old model with less storage for the same price I'm paying now.

So the next steps up are the 6s Plus 128GB (way too big and too much storage) @ R749! Also almost 2 year old model!
or... the iPhone 7 32GB (too little storage, and no headphone jack) for R699 (this is R150pm more than I'm paying currently)

So there is a R200pm gap in the model range!! (btw all phones compared are on the 1GB FreeMe package)

I know the exchange rate blah blah, but Apple has dropped all the 6 and 6s prices after the launch of the 7 AND so has other Service providers! I can't pay more 2-3 years later for a mobile phone than what it cost originally!

Hi Everyone, I am new to forums etc so please bear with me. I am desperate for any help or advise and assistance as I have received none from either fnb nor telkom. So here goes: I recently had no other choice (due to fnb) but to purchase a telkom landline prepaid voucher through online banking. I purchased it and as a reference fnb gives you a 18 digit number. I have tried to upload this number to my phone but it states it is incorrect. I have contacted fnb numerous times and they state this is the voucher recharge number even tough I have pointed out that it should only be 16 digits. I have also phoned telkom and asked them if they could assist me. They informed me they could only help if I had the 16 digit number not the 18??? So basically nobody can help me now as fnb says that is the correct number and telkom says they cannot help as the number has too many digits. I also asked telkom if they could not work on the serial number which is 18 digits and they lady refused. I asked for a supervisor to call me back. However this was back in beginning of march 2017 and I still have not received an call. I have even gone onto twitter however telkom said they will be in touch nobody has. Can anyone here assist me please as I have googled and the only thing I have seen or learned is that the voucher expires after 3 months. Thus I need help before this happens. Thanking you in advance

I'm not sure this is the right the place to post this, but I've searched without much success and thought I'd give this place a shot.

I've got a Telkom Mobile LTE router and a standard desktop. I'd like to set it up so I can use my Bein Sport account without the georestrictions while I'm in SA.

Has anyone successful in doing this?

Hi Everyone,
So i have been on the phone with Telkom for the past few days regarding these sims and they tell me there is no way of topping up Data on them.I have 2 of these sim cards on a 100gb ADSL package and only getting 2gigs of data every month is just useless as my adsl is non existent even though i have a 10mb line. I really thought Telkom had something good going on here and i was even willing to pay extra just to top up the data on the Sim cards but i guess the only option is to cancel the contract as I'm not going to pay and sit with something i can barely use.

Telkom Uncapped LTE not working

Hi

I have the uncapped LTE package with Huawei router, and have had this for > 1 year. Since last night, I have been unable to connect to the internet, despite the router lights all being appropriately lit up, and the my devices being able to connect to the router. I have barely used any data this month, so that is not the problem.

Telkom first told me I was on an uncapped package with a 50GB throttle point. I explained that not only was that not true, but I have not even used 50GB anyway. They were stumped and logged a ticket with a 72 working hour turnaround...which, given all the public holidays, is next week Wednesday.

Any thoughts? Would a Telkom store be able to assist?

Bad SINR?

Hi,

I've been using my telkom LTE router without any real issues (bar the dns issue earlier this year in the Durban Area).

However as of the last 2 days my SINR seems to be really bad if I understand what I've read. And I have really bad rubber banding in online games and slow response times from websites.

Currently my SINR is 10 but has been fluctuating between 12 and 8.

I've been using the 2400mhz band for a few months now, forcing it through the toolbox app.

Any suggestions? Is it perhaps the tower? I'm using an aerial in MiMO and my RSRP is at a constant -86dBm

Does anyone know if the SEACOM Cable Break is affecting the Telkom LTE packages?

For the past few days, connecting to Europe servers to play games online has been horrendous. Pings have been going absolutely crazy, and I've been trying to reach Telkom to ask them, but nobody seems to be able to give me a reasonable answer.

So is it the SEACOM Cable break affecting the Telkom Uncapped LTE packages?
I've checked my usage for the month - its not even near 100GB yet so I doubt I'm being throttled yet and that shouldn't affect latency/pings.

If its not the SEACOM thing, then I have no idea what the heck is going on.

Anyone in Durban want to sell me their Telkom Uncapped LTE Package?

Looking for anybody in Durban that are tired of their Telkom Uncapped LTE packages and want to get out of their contract. I am willing to take over the package from you.

Only reason I'm asking is because Telkom are taking forever to re-open up their Uncapped LTE promotion in my area. I've already got one of their Uncapped LTE packages at home, I want to get another one for the kids to use.

Telkom LTE Upload Speed

Telkom gave me 1 GB for being loyal so i decided to do some speedtests on my mobile. I noticed my upload speeds on certain towers had doubled. Normally 9Mb/s up now at 20Mb/s up. I see on telkoms website they now say "Telkom’s LTE network support downlink speed up to 90Mbps and uplink speed up to 25Mbps."

Is this something new? Why in the past would I get close to 80Mb/s down but never more that 9Mb/s up? What has changed? Shouldn't the fact that I had been getting close the the theoretical max down mean the same for up or am I missing something?

I switched to Telkom LTE network, purchased 10Gb on my mobile router 2 months ago, and for the first month seemed stable. I then purchased a further 10GB last month, but started having some lag issues, as I use my internet primarily for gaming. I purchased 5GB this month as I was not prepared to take another risk, and this is my test result. I have used most networks where I stay, and this has to be the worst I have ever had, my ping in-game is 2933 (3 second) then you know you're not bad, you're absolutely terrible. How do you get someone to attend to this, does anyone not monitor networks or have network tools that notify the service provider of links running errors? I am frustrated with the level of service I am receiving, as this is not some free service, I'm paying for this "service"

Please can someone help a computer illiterate
I have a mobile phone on contract with sim and an LTE Huawei router with separate sim
I purchased a 500GB bundle from Telkom for R 1799 in January and have received notification that am Out Of Bundle. I do not use the internet to download movies etc so cannot understand how it can already be depleted.
I have tried everything to see my data usage but cannot find how to do this.
I have registered with MyTelkom and cannot link the LTE sim as it wants an OTP which obviously I cannot receive as the sim is in the router.
PLEASE can someone help me

i have found a Site called "HomeCloudSolutions" they offer 400 Gigs 4G LTE Data + HUAWEI B315 Router
now the Router is limited to 18.75 megabytes "150 megabits" but they claim it is up to 90 megabits (1024 times by 90 = 92160 kilobits divide by 8 = 11520 Kilobytes) now the contention is the problem all the people on the same tower connects where straight are getting a sim card from Telkom Connection or using HomeCloudSolutions the Contention is horrendous cause the speed "could Be" if you are lucky IF You are Lucky you could Get more than 5 megabytes per second in the area but thats "Highly Unlikely" that you are going to get more than 1 megabyte per second on This Resellers LTE Router SO! i am posting this because i want to hear Everyone's Opinion on this ISP that is reselling Telkom LTE Data. https://www.homecloudsolutions.co.za

if you are lucky to get more than 10 Megabytes per Second Down on 4G LTE with the HUAWEI B315 Router then go for the 400 GB 4G LTE Data

IF And Only If "They DO NOT" Lock the Sim card to the Router You could get a 4G LTE Advanced Router HUAWEI e5186 Router and put the sim card into that then the Limit is 37.5 megabytes 300 megabits
