Telkom LTE Night Surfer Limiting Upload Speeds

Anyone else noticed that Telkom is limiting upload speeds to 2Mb/s with the Night Surfer product?

Am doing nightly backups of photos to Google Photos and Google Drive and noticed that upload speeds are being limited to 2Mb/s.

When you connect to a VPN and then do the same thing, it immediately shoots up to 20Mb/s, which is the norm for this location.

I have been customer of Telkom mobile for many years. I have been battling to get anybody to sort out the mess Telkom made on my account. They keep taking money off my bank. My contract finished so I requested it go to pay as u go, they billed me org. Carry over and admin fees of R1000,. They sent my account to collections, so had no service. Lady at Telkom shop Clearwater phoned the accounts Dept. In front of me, the lady in accounts slammed phone down on her, she was a really helpful assistant. I have called customer care, gone into Telkom, promises, promises, nobody bothers to call me. The assistant at Telkom told me to reverse all debit orders until it's sorted, which I have done, now they want to charge me reversal fees. Please can somebody in a senior position help me get this rectified, I've had enough. In January 2nd they taking off a further R1900 which I will reverse again. In fact customer care told me to do an affidavit at police station for fraud, my word what next. If they took the time to look at my payment history up till October they will see I never faulted until now, I won't pay until it's sorted. I had every intention of renewing my freeme contract in January, but due to Telkom incompetence I've no doubt got a bad name, through no fault of mine, I deserve a letter of apology and an explanation. Hi guys

I recently got my LIT tv box from Telkom. I signed into my google account and downloaded DSTV now.

I now need to register my device by going to manage device. I select register and I then at an error stating “registration error: the device is currently registered to another user. Please log in with the previous users credentials, go to DSTV NOW settings, select manage devices and delete the device”

The issue is that this is a brand new device, came sealed. How can it be registered to another user?

How do I get this fixed, I done a factory reset and thru the process 2 times but with the same result.

Your call centre people seem to try to help but nothing gets done.

Hey folks.

I recently added LIT to my smartbroadband wireless LTE account. I got the tv box and everything. What do i need to do now? I have set it up and everything however if i for instance stream a video on you tube it still takes data. I contacted telkom contact center and they tell me i need to purchase LIT data for it to work. From what i know this is not the case as per telkom adverts. due to the fact that that youtube and showmax etc should be 0 rated. Is there something i am missing?

Hi Guys, Been playing around with the 50B prepaid LIT bundle and Youtube and Showmax work like a charm. Netflix however does not work. Anyone experience similar problems?

Telkom throttling LTE CONNECTIONS at midnight?

Hi

I have an Huawei B315 LTE router. During the day my speeds are decent ranging between 10Mbps to 20Mbps if I am lucky. However whenever Midnight strikes and the midnight data is active my speed drops to below 1Mbps each and every night.

Any advice on what I can do with regards to this ?

I see that they now inlude LIT in the freeme boost bundles.

Not a bad deal for R299. Make use of *123# for extra promotions. Now that Cellc social bundles are coming to an end end of this month looks like Telkom will replace Cellc for me.

I'm getting 25gb LIT video because of the 5GB freeme boost. I guess you get 50GB when you take the 10GB freeme boost or higher.

Is there anyway to check DAILY usage for Telkom LTE data?

I've been trying to figure out how to view DAILY usage for Telkom LTE data. I can see the current data left, but would like to be able to view how much data has been used on certain days. If anyone knows how to do this, or if it is even possible, that would be amazing.

I've been given 5GB music streaming. Bought a 2GB Freeme bundle, got the following:

Nice to see this auto added (vs having to buy the 10GB for R99...)

Question: is this for any quality via Google Play Music or must it be low?

Telkom Dreadful Service Levels

Perhaps anyone in this forum can point me in the right direction?

I am very Frustrated with Telkom’s poor service levels!

I went into the Menlyn store on the 15th of November 2017 to upgrade a 50Gb LTE (month to month) contract to 100Gb (month to month)

The consultant was not properly trained and issued a 100Gb (2 Year) contract instead.
After spending 3 hours in the store, another consultant assisted by asking me to complete a cancellation form for the 2 year contract.

The most frustrating part is that I have since been billed for the 2 year contract, which I don’t even own or use!

Phone stock after taking out the contract

Hi

I went into a telkom mobile store a week ago to take out a contract only to be told the phone was not in stock. I then contacted telkom Direct who initially also didn't have Stock but when I followed up they did have Stock and processed my application. The contract has been approved and the first debit order has been taken off. I now received a sms to say there is no stock which is going to result in delays on my delivery.

What do I do? I would imagine the contract has been agreed and paid for and thus Telkom are legally obligated to provide me with the device or they are in breach of the contract? Is there perhaps a Telkom rep on the forum that can help me?

So about a month ago I wanted to give Google Play Music a try and created a random Google account on my phone and started the trial using Telkom billing as a payment method. I wasn't feeling it so I decided to remove the app and the account from my phone without cancelling the subscription.

Now I don't remember anything about that Google account I created as it was purely random and didn't really give it much thought. I'm in a situation where I will get billed at the end of the trial period and beyond without the ability to cancel it.

Is there any way out if this? Maybe get Telkom to cancel or block on their side? I'm on prepaid if that matters.

I can only laugh instead of exploding at the level of incompetence at this company. I seriously challenge the Telkom rep here: IF YOU CAN RESOLVE MY 3-week OLD PROBLEM which is a SIMPLE NUMBER CHANGE on a CONTRACT ie. let a Telkom prepaid number take over a Telkom contract number, I will not tell the world what I think of Telkom :crylaugh:

I am using a prepaid Telkom LTE service on a HUAWEI B315s-936 and cannot access the Telkom website for the past week.

Chrome/FireFox/IE browsers display "ERR_CONNECTION_TIMED_OUT"

Tried from 2 different computers and phone and tablet on my home network and no luck in accessing the website.

Quite a hassle to top up data when you cant access the damn site !

Works fine with a 3G dongle on prepaid 3G (all networks) just very very slow.

Anyone else having this problem on Telkom LTE using prepaid data ?

Hi Guys

QQ - I have the Telkom LTE Uncapped product from 2 yrs ago. I'm finding that streaming and some added devices ( XBOX ONE for example ), other family members using the Wifi etc, causes me to use just over 300 GB each month. Obviously I get throttled, so I was wondering if anyone knows if one can get a sort of top up on these contracts - like an extra 100GB or so...

I don't want to use the 500GB for R50 deal as I don't torrent or have scheduled downloads after 12PM. If I could use that from 6PM to 6AM that would have been awesome. but I know it only works from 12PM.

I wish telkom would up the threshold of the Uncapped product to 500GB before they start throttling . . . .

Any Ideas ?

I've been trying to change my tariff plan since yesterday via *180# after following the prompts and confirming, it says "...failed, please try again later" tried over a dozen times, what gives?
