Telkom Data Depletion SMS's

Im a Telkom customer using a Huawei B315 on a 20G+20G package. Recently i've noticed an annoying number of messages from Telkom on the Router that states

"Your internet access has been paused because you are using out of Bundle Data."

I have 219 of these messages at the moment of writing this post all within 2 minutes of each other although im well within my data allocation for the month(10gigs daytime data left)

Is anyone else having a similar issue?

Switching to prepaid at the end of contract

Does anyone have any experience switching to prepaid, once their Telkom contract has expired?

I called their customer care and the rep I dealt with told me that I need to contact 10213 once the contract has expired and then they will change the number to prepaid. The line was cutting out while I was on the call, so I didn't want to ask her for too many details, but isn't 10213 meant for calling from a landline?

FYI: I want to go on to prepaid so I can switch networks. Telkom's signal is terrible where I am currently, which has a huge impact on battery life. To work around the issue, I force the SIM to roam on MTN.

Any Experince with Telkom's LTE-A

Hi all,

I currently have a 10 + 10 GB SmartBroadband Wireless contract with Telkom for R200 p/m. I desperately need to upgrade it because I find myself having to buy an additional 10GB LTE bundle for R250 every month which makes my monthly bill R450. Telkom is currently having a double data promo for all of their SmartBroadband Wireless LTE and LTE-A packages so I'm definitely going to upgrade to one of them.

My question is, how reliable is their LTE-A? I have many people on these forums advising that Rain's LTE-A is not very stable during peak hours (i.e. after 5pm) and so I'm wondering if the same is true of Telkom's LTE-A.

A few points worth noting:
  1. I have checked Telkom's coverage map and I have LTE-A coverage.
  2. The price difference is R50 p/m for packages of the same size and so you can ignore that aspect.
  3. The Telkom sales consultant I spoke to recommends that I take the package as is with the router because it's I'll end up paying the same on a SIM-only deal. :wtf: If I take the LTE deal then I'll just give away the new B315 router.


Your help, as always, will be highly appreciated.

R599 Uncapped LTE End of Contract

Hi All

I've been on the R599 LTE contract for the last two years. The contract is now up and I'm due to pay R525 at the end of the month. I'm leaving the country at the start of February. Is it possible to transfer this account to a family member (at R525 a month)?

The Telkom Home Unlimited is a fairly new package deal
It includes a Telkom Mobile ONE GB data allocation with an included sim card.

I am currently using it in my Huawei LTE router in a VLAN on my network
Just using this VLAN ( LTE ) for collecting mail -- so far the ONE GB is fine for this function.

What I would like to know is IF one can -- AD-HOC bolt on additional data to the mobile part of the package
( the Telkom Mobile section of the package )

IF so ?
How does one go about this ?

Hi guys,

Does anyone know if the iPhone X is connecting to Telkom's LTE-A network?

My speeds have been quite bad lately to say, so if this is there LTE-A network (which seems to have a quite a large coverage now) then i'm quite disappointed.

Hi guys. So my suburb in Durban has been ignored for getting Fibre and we are stuck with 4mbps Adsl.

We do have Telkom LTE-A Coverage so I'd like to know what's the best solution for me. I use around 200GB a month. I've seen they have a Double Data thing going on. Is that better than the Uncapped Deal? Please advise

I've just bought airtime for the first time in about 10 years so I am a bit of a noob to prepaid (but yay no more contracts)

I've still got hundreds of minutes carried over from my contract that will last till about July when they expire.

I opted to buy a FreeMe bundle as its only data I need. I bought R200 airtime and then converted to a 3gb bundle. I got a notification that i now have R200 free airtime. On the app the free airtime reflects, but it isn't in my balance when I dial *188#.

Does anyone know how one can use this "free airtime" to buy more data?

Hi.

So I went to the store and got the 50GB LTE deal on my B593 Router. Now the data has run out and I can't for the life of me figure out where to buy another one of the LTE deals. The guy at the store said I can buy it online.

I have tried using the top up option but the only options I have is to buy the expensive (normal mobile) data deals where it is like almost 2k for 100GB plus. I have tried the app and I get the same data bundle options. There is no LTE specials or anything.

Is there a special link I need to follow?

So how does one get the Uncapped LTE Deal? My address isn't covered. If I select a address that is, can I apply for it or will they give me problems? I urgently need help since Telkom don't want to sort my Adsl

Upgrading Telkom uncapped LTE special

Hi Guys

This is my first post here so bear with me.

I signed up for the Telkom LTE uncapped special @ R599 and it will be 2 years this month. I recieved a call from Telkom regarding an upgrade but they want me to now pay R799 a month and they will throw in a LIT streaming box and wireless repeater.

So im now in two minds about upgrading this contract and would much rather stay on a month to month basis so i am free to cancel it as i please however the agent stated that they could charge me R799 from next month even if i choose not to upgrade which makes sense since thats what they now charge for the uncapped product however she also stated that they cant guarantee i will have access to the LTE tower as they will prioritize contract customers.

So id like to find out from other people on here who have this Uncapped LTE special what they have done with regards to upgrading ? and is there anything which could be better value for money currently ?

Got A New Telkom SIM And FNB Doesn't Support The Number

So this is a really strange one. I've just moved to Bluewater Bay, outside PE and there is zero CellC signal, perhaps no more than 25kbps of Edge if you're lucky. Figured I'd get a Telkom SIM. Data is so, so much cheaper anyway. Went to PEP, got one. Silly woman forgot to RICA it but in the day that I sat staring at my phone and restarting it 100 times, I didn't realize that. Went back and got it done properly.

First day was great, having constant LTE feels awesome considering that in my 5 years of using CellC, I didn't see those three letters in the top right hand corner of my phone once.

Then I realize that I need to now change my number for SMS verifications and most importantly, my banks OTP - in this case, FNB's InContact as well, which requires you to go all the way to a branch and wait two hours for someone to help you, so I did.

Then, the lady tells me that the number on my SIM, which is an 067, isn't valid. We then learn that its because the prefix practically didn't exist until very recently. So now I can't use my bank. She said she'd phone me back in three days. That was a week ago... They did send a letter to some other office apparently, but that hasn't seemed to have gone anywhere either.

Another problem is that when trying to get SMS codes from Google, WhatsApp and Uber they simply don't come or I'm told the number is invalid. Dear Telkom, why sell a SIM with a number that doesn't work?

Good day to all

I am contractually bound to Telkom.

I receive 20G (10G + 10G) per month, for which I pay R399.00pm

I have since learned that other service providers (including Telkom) charge the following rates:
20G (10G + 10G) = R199.00pm
40G (20G + 20G) = R299.00pm.

I think this is quite unfair. Is there anything that you can do to negotiate a better deal for me?

Cancellation with Telkom a nightmare

Cancellation of an existing contract 0813742441

In December I took an uncapped WiFi contract with telkom. As soon as that was installed I went in store to cancel my existing month to month broadband 20GIG on ********** 441. I was the told that does not get done in store I have to fill in a form and scan it to the cancellationsame department. I did that on the 26/12/2017. I received an autoreply that my query will be attended to within 21 days. About 2 weeks ago when I checked the line it was still active. I forwarded the same email to various departments including ********** no response. On the 31st of January I caled the 10210 call centre and I was asked to forward the same emails and I was promised a call back. I forwarded the emails and no onextra came back. I logged a request on telkom app on my phone and I got a notification that my query was sent back and I'll receicertainly a copy. I didn't. I did that 2 times. The last person I spoke to was Desmond on the 01/02/2018 around 18:30 who kept me on hold for quite a lengthy time after I've been holding for about 30 minutes to get assistance. When he eventually came back to me he said the line will be deactivated within 4 hours. The line is still active. What else should I do now as this is so frustrating! !! I've been loyal to telkom for years and this poor service is not acceptable! !!!

Hi, so I got this yesterday and I am unable to connect to the Internet. "Connection failed. The profile is invalid"

This happens when I set it too 3G and 4G is just blank. I have no idea what to do because the connection was fine then all of a sudden it dropped and now I cannot connect even after resetting the router. (At some point after a few minutes 3G connects but 4G does not and if I try it then I have to set it to 3G again and wait until it works.)

Anyone had this problem before? B315s-936

Had to use my phone to post so I can't see if everything is nicely typed.

Telkom SmartBroadband Wireless 50GB Double Data

We are moving our office to an area with no fibre or ADSL. We have been using approximately 25GB per month with our ADSL line. i am looking at the 50GB Double Deal package meaning 100GB Day and 100GB nightsurfer. Telkom advised me that because we will be getting LTE-A coverage (faster speed) it will eat more data. Now I am worried that we will run out of data. I have read horror stories of people on these capped packages with Telkom and their data all of a sudden runs out after 10 days of usage (no change in their usage patterns). I need to make a decision quickly and are very confused.

Hi Guys,

After a long struggle, i finally managed to get my Telkom Uncapped LTE package.

Now to my knowledge, i should be correct.... I think Hahaha

If i take my sim card i received and I buy a new Wireless router that has LTE-A capabilities, Would i not get LTE-A Speeds?
As in my mind, with LTE & LTE-A, your router is your limitation right?

I'm thinking of moving to telkom because of the FreeMe offers but I need to know some things first.
1. Does the Telkom FreeMe data work while roaming on mtn?
2. Does the FreeMe free WhatsApp/Viber/BBM data also work while roaming on MTN?
3. Does the free WhatsApp data also work with video calling or will it use the normal FreeMe data?
