Telkom Mobile LTE A Port forwarding

Hi Guys,

Something I have been struggling with for a while now, Telkom representatives keep telling me that Telkom LTE A does not support port forwarding.
Is this really true ? I cannot believe that this size Telco. Company would not support Port Forwarding but others like Vodacom and Cell C do.
Similar experiences guys or solutions found ?

Can anyone explain why I am in an LTE coverage area of Telkom but not in an LTE uncapped coverage area. I live in Midrand. Does not make sense. The only thing I can think off is Maybe their base stations are not backhauled by Fibre? But then again Midrand should have fibre.

So

A couple of weeks back, my fiances phone was stolen. That same day, we went to Telkom, blacklisted the number and they provided us with another sim card. Easy and quick, no hassle's.

A week back, being the good hearted person I am, I purchased my fiance a new replacement phone, the exact phone which was stolen. So, she goes about setting the phone up and tries to insert the replacement sim card, oops, Telkom gave us a Micro-Sim instead of a Nano Sim. Cool, no problem, we're all human, we all make mistakes.

Today, we go to the Telkom Direct branch in TygerValley. What a mission, all of a sudden they want proof of address and a letter head of the company which the contract was bought under (contract bought under my fiances company). I explained to them that how are they able to now request it all of a sudden when they didn't need it 2 weeks ago.
The lady explained, because we blacklisted, they don't require any proof or identification (sounds like the potential for an illegal sim swap and bank accounts being accessed).

She then refused to assist because we didn't have any of this documentation. She then went on to say that maybe we should go to the other Telkom branch in TygerValley because the other branch is just a franchise and they can do what they want and that at Telkom Direct they actually do their job. How unprofessional, to bad mouth the own company you work for in front of a customer, when you yourself refuse to assist.

So, we went to the other branch, no ridiculously long queue, just a little wait while the consultant finished up with another client. We were helped by a wonderful person, who was quick, efficient, to the point and incredibly helpful.

Because my Fiance is a co-owner of her business and her sister is the other co-owner, both needed to sign but somewhere a long the line, Telkom messed up and only entered in her sisters details.

The consultant went as far as pulling up a copy of the original contract and confirming that my fiance also signed.
As soon as he confirmed that, the new correct Nano Sim was provided.

The service I received from Telkom Direct was horrendous at best, the people were arrogant, they were rude, unhelpful and went as far as bad mouthing other branches of their own company where the 2nd branch we went to were incredibly helpful, professional, efficient and to the point.

So my LTE service was never great but I was happy after they installed an antenna and I could get 16mbps to 25mbs.
Not the fastest LTE speeds but better than my 4mbps ADSL running at 2mbps.
I could stream in Full HD gaming latency was at an all time low, and all was glorious.

but 2017 is dark days, low signal and 2.5mbps speeds at best. Sometimes losing signal completely, and only a hard reset of the router bring back network.

Telkom is worthless, logging call after call and nothing. No feedback nothing.

So all this preamble leads me to the question.

How do I get Telkom to switch me over to 3G?

I know they don't want to but their site does say only when the network is down.
While my lte technically works it is not good internet in any serviceable way.
If I am gaming I get packet loss and ping spikes and even hard disconnects.
Can't even play Hitman because it takes forever to connect to your online profile.
Steaming 360p not even 480 it buffers and disconnects.
I am so sads, been spoilt for a few months with almost good internet and now this junk.

All my friends keeps posting me their 60+mbps LTE speeds. :(
They only have the service because I told them about it. I recommended Telkom to them. And now I sit out in the cold while they play on the nets. :( :( :cry:

KZN Uncapped Coverage no more???

Hi all,

So I'm unable to sign up at any address it seems in the whole of KZN.

The LTE Uncapped coverage map has now Tower "Rockets" on it anymore. I know numerous people who have it, including my parents.

So either it's a bug in the coverage map or there's, which seems unlikley, no more uncapped lte in KZN.

If it is a bug it's preventing me from signing up on the phone, store etc becase the Telkom staff all go to that map, enter my address, "oh sorry you're not in coverage", yet the whole of KZN seems to be in the same problem. See image.

Telkom integrated data sim came with free mifi?

Telkom delivered my integrated data sim a few minutes ago.

Seems they included a dlink MIFI device.

Is this normal?

Agent said it was free of charge service with my 10mbs uncapped account.

Telkom Mobile Online Order - No one has contacted me to finalise order

I've place an online order with Telkom Mobile for one of their FreeMe deals, received the email to say that my order is confirmed and a Telkom agent will be in contact with you soon to finalise my order.

It's been 3 days and no one has contacted me regardless of me contacting them on twitter and being promised someone will be in contact to provide feedback. I'm fed up now and do not want to take out the contract anymore.

My question is since no one has contacted me to finalise my contract they aren't able to debit my account, correct?

Where should i begin, on Tuesday afternoon the 21/02/2017 i bought 10 GB of data from telkom for my pre paid modem as i have done for the last 6 months. This data usually reflects within 15 seconds of purchase, but this time nothing was received. On Wednesday morning 22/02/2017 i phoned and asked what the problem was and was informed that they can see the data was bought and that they do not know what happened to it.

I was informed that a case was being opened for them to look into the problem and was informed that it would take 72 Hours and was promptly given a reference number.

On Friday 24/02/2017 i phoned to enquire as to the status of the case and was told that they had no record of the payment ( That after telling me on the 21st that they could see my payment)and i should send them proof of payment.

Proof of payment was sent and after phoning again this morning 25/02/2017 was informed that the case had been closed without resolution and a new case would be opened which would take another 72 hours to resolve.

I believe Telkom are up to their old tricks of not supplying data which has been paid for and then making life so difficult that the customer just gives up in the end. Unfortunately Telkom have duped people into believing that their data is the cheapest (Which it would be if you got it) but the problems and missing data are not worth the extra you would pay with MTN or Vodacom. At least i was never stolen from by MTN which is more than i can say for Telkom.

Can anybody please give me some advice. I've been trying to get a Telkom contract for the past week.

The shop only sent the paper work off either last night or this morning to their credit vetting team.

I was told it would take 2 hours but I'm still waiting. I have not received a case number sms or anything and when I phone their support line, they dont pick up my ID number on their system.

I now do not know what else to do.

Telkom is making it close to impossible for me to allow them to take my money.

Hiya.

I use to have to go to http://onnet.8ta.com.
That disappeared without notice ... but I guessed it again on http://onnet.telkom.co.za
Now that too has gone ... redirects to telkom main page.

So I have registered as a user, but that is all I have been able to do.
Cannot add my number under Add Personal number - says ID number phone number combo is invalid.
Cannot manage my subscriptions - enter the number and the "Load subscription" spins forever ....

Customer dis-service :(

Anyone with any ideas ?

My telkom SIM is in my Huawei LTE MiFi router, i don't want to have to take it out and put it in my phone everytime i want to check my remaining data.

So i downloaded the Telkom App and registered, until i got to the part where i have to verify the OTP. No matter what i do it says "Invalid ID/Passport and mobile combination" i have tried the actual number of the Telkom SIM, also tried my Vodacom number which i gave to the sales person at the Telkom store during purchase of the device, in both cases i receive the OTP and enter it, still same result. Even when i log in via their website. Same result.

Help please, is there an alternative ?

Telkom throttles my facebook and instagram internet speed

Ive got a contract with telkom where I received 2GB of social media data every month. After that social media data is finished I usually buy either 10GB data bundle for R499 or 20GB free me boost data bundle for R599. My problem is once the social media data is finished whatever data bundle I buy my internet speed for facebook and instagram is very slow. I dont know why telkom throttles my facebook and instagram speed. This started when they introduced this social media data. Ive told telkom about this problem about fives times, but they keep telling me my data is not throttled. Ive used telkom mobile for more than 2 years now and there wasnt any problem with the facebook/instagram speed until they introduced this social media data thing. The speed when im using the social media data is so fast and perfect but that data gets finished so quick, of which I also dont understand because that social media data is suppose to be for only bbm, viber and whatsapp and I only have whatsapp on my phone and I dont think it uses that much data. Does anyone have the same problem? Can anyone suggest any help?

I had my Telkom contract for less than 10 days through Selldirect, then logged a call to cancel the contract 25 days ago, have not heard from them since.

FreeMe Family shaping/throttling question ? :-)

19. All data traffic on FreeMe Family Unlimited that directs toward Peer-to-Peer sites or uses
torrent applications will automatically be throttled to 128kbps upload and 128kbps download.


The above is from the Terms and Conditions in relation to Telkom's new FreeMe Family products.
Since I don't have any experience in the shaping or throttling that Telkom Mobile do with some of there products I thought some one could please be so kind as to enlighten me :)

I recall some mention, I think last year in regard to the uncapped accounts, about the shaping/throttling been relaxed during the so called off peak times eg 12:00 am to 6:00 am ?
I may be wrong about the above point and I could be recalling incorrectly which I'm probably doing ;)

As it stands now with that throttling term (19) Torrents are a no go, so I was just wondering if there was any slim chance that torrents would still be usable late in the night ? :)

So

Monday I got a new contract with Telkom (first time customer). First thing I noticed, I had no data or minutes. So I waited tot he next day and still nothing.

So I phoned into the Call Centre and they tried to resolve the problem, next thing they tell me im on a FreeMe1GB when I specifically asked for a FreeMe2GB.

I then looked at my copy of the contract and it clearly states in 2 places that its the FreeMe2GB but some how, Telkom managed to stuff that up and activate me on the wrong one.

I got hold of the store manager, he now says that its going to take 21 days to resolve the problem.

Telkom, how does you team manage to not input the data correctly from the contract?
What if they put my ID in wrong? My ported number? The phone I was applying for?

This is completely unacceptable. I have a signed agreement that I will get the FreeMe2GB and have now only received the FreeMe1GB.

If this matter is not resolved in 21 days (they did not specify business day, so 21 normal days or 15 working days starting from yesterday), I will be taking this up with ICASA.

First time Telkom Mobile customer, contract is a whole 2 days old and I'm incredibly pissed.

Moring

Does anybody know how to test above modem. To see if modem is busy dying. :D Still under warranty.

It started of acting very strangely 2 to 3 Bars showing on modem. This is even with or without external antenna (Poynting).

This morning i disconnected antenna and it still only shows two bars on modem.
The other modem I have Shows 3 Bars without any external antenna (Poynting). This is always the default bars showing when being used.

1) If i do a Self Test all shows ok.
2) RSSI 68
3) RSRP 96 Diffrence between 96-68 should be 25. Higher
4) RSRQ 9 Is very high normally 6

I have another modem at home still new.Will give this one a bash tonight. See if results do improve.

Symptoms are more frequent currently.

Good Day

Wondering if anybody can assist.

Does anybody know if Telkom has blocked icmp (ping) on their network?

In the past I have been able to ping various of my devices connected to Telkom LTE network, Then as of last week or so I noticed that I am unable to do it any more.

The lte routers are set up to pass-through (dmz) to firewalls or routers that are set up to allow icmp. No changes have been made on the cpe devices.

Trying to seek assistance through the Telkom mobile call center is the most time consuming and infuriating exercise ever undertaken.

Any assistance would be appreciated.

Freeme Family package - How to allocate data to the secondary sims

Hi there

Brilliant package from Telkom but I am struggling to allocate the data (and voice) allowance to each connected multi SIM. When I use USSD (*180#), I get an message "The monthly data allowance was not assigned. Please try again later.". Anyone with a similar problem?

Is it possible to allocate the data via the web portal? I don't see an option.
